Call for Submission of Photography
2013 Beautifully Wrapped Calendar and Exhibition Project

Greetings!
NIYAH is pleased to announce our call for entries to the 2012-2013 Beautifully Wrapped Photography Competition.  Open to all photographers; amateur and professional worldwide.  

We celebrate the beauty of headwrapping in all its glory.  Based on your votes, this year’s theme is International Love.  In addition to single headshots, we’re looking for family shots of sisters, mom and daughters, wives and husbands, cousins and more. 

All ethnic backgrounds.  All cultures.  All religions.  We want to highlight the splendor in diversity.   Pictures can be old, new, or in between.  We’re interested in beauty, originality and quality!

Submission Requirements:

• Full Color or Black and White photographs that depict a woman/women in a headwrap, headscarf, khimar, tichel, gele, etc. 
• Photographs must be submitted in a digital format (i.e.-35mm prints should be scanned and sent as digital files). We prefer submissions at a minimum of 300 dpi in either jpg or tiff format. 
• Files can be sent using the free service www.yousendit.com. 
• Use beautiful@niyah.net for the recipient email address.
• You may submit up to 10 photographs for consideration.
• Must include short 50 word bio of model/ photography description.
• An Entry Form (see below) must accompany the photos. 
• We are looking for a wide representation of ethnic backgrounds, styles, fabrics, colors, etc.

Selection:  13 photos will be selected for inclusion in the 2013 calendar.  Other photos may be considered for our larger traveling exhibition and companion book.  All artists will be fully recognized both in print and online.


 
For a good cause:  Proceeds from the sale of the calendar will once again go to support the education and empowerment of young African women.  2011 supported 10,000 Girls, an education and self-sufficiency program in Senegal.  This year we will be establishing a fund to build and open an entrepreneurial school in Sierra Leone.
Your photos will not only reach an American audience, but an audience worldwide.

Beautifully Wrapped is a project of NIYAH, a publishing and creative-living company that aims to inspire and uplift the soul.  We publish books and goods of value that inform, entertain and motivate positive action.  We also provide a varied program of art, cultural and travel events centered on topics found in our books.
