January's message from The Niyah Company

In America, January is the month which symbolizes a new beginning. It's a time when the whole country is engaged in setting new goals, reflecting on personal journeys and making plans for change. However, as Muslims who pray 5 times a day, we know that January is not the only time for personal reflection - it's a daily activity.

Only through continuous inner reflection can true change occur. And only through struggle/jihad can the positive evolution of your soul be unleashed. So take the time to sit quietly, breath and listen to your heart. Ask yourself "Am I demonstrating love and joy the way Allah has guided me to? Am I forgiving of others and myself? And finally, am I ready to truly roll up my sleeves and do the "inner-work" necessary to lead a more loving and joyful life?" Open your heart, pray and listen to the messages Allah sends.

But remember listening is not enough. We must have the courage to implement what Allah shares with us. In this new year, during your search for your soul mate, or while increasing the love in your marriage, family and community, let us remember our own inner strength, wisdom, joy and love. Let us continue to do the work necessary to purify ourselves physically, intellectually and spiritually. And remember to ENLIVEN YOUR SOUL!
